Bernards Township Republican Candidates To Kickoff Campaign

Bernards Township, NJ - James Baldassare Jr. and Kate Grochala, Republican candidates, announce the official start of their campaign to be elected to the Bernards Township Municipal Committee in November.


Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Jim and Kate have decided to host their campaign kickoff virtually on June 4th at 7:30pm. Jim, a lifelong township resident, veteran and current Mayor is seeking re-election to his second term. Jim and his wife Tracy, have six children. Embodying service above self, after enlisting in the Marine Corps, Jim embarked on a successful career as a surety underwriter and currently serves as Director of Surety for a large brokerage. He has coached both youth football and high school baseball. Prior to serving on the township committee, Jim served on the township Parks and Recreation, Zoning and Planning Boards.


Kate, a 25 year township resident and former Chief of Staff to Assemblywoman Denise Coyle, is seeking her first term. Kate and her husband Rick raised two children in the township. An attorney by trade, Kate takes great pride in serving as a community volunteer. Kate was selected for and participated in the Christine Todd Whitman Excellence in Public Service series.


Baldassare and Grochala are fiscal conservatives and believe in a strong, inclusive community. As long term residents, Jim and Kate support the Township’s zero debt, pay as you go philosophy and will work to keep Bernards as one of the safest towns in which to live. Their campaign message is “Leadership That Puts You First”.
